Jeong Deok-Mi

Soung Yeon-Sook
Abstract
This study conducted a questionnaire survey against 700 beauty salon employees across the country in order to figure out correlations between job stress and musculoskeletal symptoms. For data analysis, frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and logistic regression were carried out using SPSS 20.0. Then, the study results found the followings: According to the logistic regression analysis on the effects of job stress on the pain in the neck, shoulders, lower back, arms/elbows, knees and feet/ankles, the possibility of suffering from pain increased as stress caused by lack of skills increased in the shoulders. In the lower back, on the contrary, lack of skills was the highest, followed by conflict with supervisor, physical environment and work limit in terms of the cause of the possibility of job stress-related pain. In arms/elbows, the pain caused by job stress occurred due to conflict with supervisor, peer conflict and work limit. In wrist/fingers, lack of skills was the highest, followed by physical environment and work limit. In knees, lack of skills was the highest, followed by physical environment and peer conflict. In feet/ankles, as the stress caused by lack of skills, conflict with supervisor, physical environment and conflict with customers decreased, a possibility of suffering from musculoskeletal symptoms increased. Considering the results above, a further study should be conducted through in-depth interview, group discussion and observation on each factor by covering the nationwide areas and prevention and improvement of diverse musculoskeletal symptoms.
